Treenides aeroobses tsoonis (kasutades rasvu ja s\u00fcsivesikuid) suudab organism laktaadi viia maksa, kus see muudetakse gl\u00fckoosiks ning taaskasutatakse energiana t\u00f6\u00f6ks (laktaadi v\u00e4\u00e4rtus veres on sel juhul alla 4 mmol\/l). Olukorras kus aga t\u00f6\u00f6koormus kasvab sedav\u00f5rd, et liigutakse juba anaeroobsesse tsooni (energia tootmine toimub peamiselt s\u00fcsivesikute osav\u00f5tul, hapniku puudusel), ei suudeta laktaati enam organismis transportida ning seega kuhjub see lihastes ja p\u00e4rsib nende t\u00f6\u00f6d (laktaadi v\u00e4\u00e4rtus veres kasvab \u00fcle 4 mmol\/l).
